If any of you have been following our blog you may have noticed that we're quite big fans on the cosmetics brand MODELS OWN.

Can't Live Without: Aussie Volume Range

Heya! A quick hair&beauty post!

You can probably see in some of my previous OOTD/FOTD posts that I haven't got massive amounts of volume in my hair (however much hairspray I use) however recently I have noticed a marked improvement after I switched shampoos. I saw the Aussie Aussome Volume shampoo & conditioner on offer (2 for £6) and decided it was time for change, I initially only bought the shampoo but quickly returned for the conditioner after loving the shampoo.

(I only have the 2 products on the left at the moment!)

I'm in love. Not only does it definately give me hair a boost, it also stops my hair getting as greasy as it used to and it smells divine. Hopefully when I have a bit more money I'll be able to indulge in some of the other products in the volume range. I'm especially wanting to try the mousse as I've heard good things!

Next up, I had a massive clearout of my room last week in preparation for going to uni! I also turned my cupboard that was previously full of school folders/school related books/prospectuses into..wait for it...a shoe cupboard (with a little space on the top shelf reserved for my harry potter books &GHDs!) The lovely Rachelle of Behind The Shoes asked me to do a little piece about it so here it is!


So here it is! There are 1 or 2 pairs of shoes in each of the boxes with my favourite pairs displayed on top. I think I counted 28 pairs excluding all my sports trainers/shoes and flip-flops (which are on my shoe rack!)

I didn't manage to get a picture before half of them had been demolished! How lush do they look? They taste even better. My 16 year old (but 3 inch taller) sister has started a cupcake business to raise money for her trip to Peru next summer! They're really reasonably priced and look how pretty they are! So if anyone in Norfolk/Suffolk is in need of some cheap cupcakes, let us know!

OOTD: A little more velvet.

Heya!

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my 'black velvet' post (here) it's always lovely to hear what you think about my outfits/posts! I wore the skirt out tonight for a friends dinner at Nandos! (yum!)

I went for a very monochrome look tonight. I paired the skirt with a grey primark tee and some spotty tights! What do you think? I didn't actually end up wearing these shoes in the end as I rememebered that a) I was driving and b) I'd have to walk a fair way from restaurant to car! So I settled for my topshop black patent brogues in the end!

I only bought these tights yesterday (£2 Primark) but they've already laddered which is really annoying. I don't even remember catching them on anything. I might invest in some better quality ones next time. Does anyone know where I can get some?

How are your weekends going? I've got a family meal sunday lunch time that was meant to be in April but I got stranded in New York due to a certain volcanic eruption so it had to be rescheduled! It's also my Dad's birthday today!

Also, If anyone knows any shops which sell decent trekking trousers I'd be eternally grateful as I'm struggling to find any that actually fit me (I have short legs!) I'm off on my trip next sunday (so excited) but I'll be gone for a whole month! No internet or anything for most of it!

NOTD: Rimmel Apricot Punch

Heya! Now I know I do far too many NOTD posts (& you probably hate them all!) but I had to share this with you. This is no ordinary nail varnish. No. This nail varnish SMELLS like Apricots when it's dry. Mindblowing.

So here it is. 

I put it on over a models own base coat on all but one finger to see whether using a base coat affected the smell, but it didn't so all is good!

How have your friday the 13th's been? Hopefully nothing too traumatic! Mines been pretty good! (more about that tomorrow!)

Black Velvet ...

One of my going out essentials this year has been my black velvet bodycon skirt. I love how easy it is to style and how it can be dressed up or down! I'm very happy that it looks like velvet is here to stay this winter (seen on the catwalks of Burburry & Ralph Lauren). So here are 2 outfit posts showing ways I've worn this skirt recently!

I found this printed body in our dressing up box a few months ago (Yes I still have a dressing up box..!) unfortunately it has an awkward piece of elastic around the middle which means it can only be worn with high waisted shorts/skirts! Still, I'm not complaining!

NOTD: Topshop Cloud

Quick NOTD post! I painted my nails with Cloud which is part of the range of Topshop nail varnishes! I love this colour. it's a kind of dusty grey/blue! Although at £5 and the same price as Models Own varnishes, you only get just under half the amount and The brush isn't quite as nice at the MO brushes! However I do love this colour and I only needed one coat to get the coverage in the pictures below! Very impressive!

Plus the bottle is really cute! Have you tried any topshop nail varnishes? What do you think? I'd definately buy again just because they come in such lovely colours on trend colours!

An Armful of Bracelets

Heya! Just a quick post to show off some of my favourite summery jewellery pieces! The gold bangle was such a steal. Was £2 in the sales! I'd been looking for a largish gold cuff for a while & when I found this I was seriously happy!

The Henry Bendel bangle was bought in New York when we were there at easter (we got stranded in the volcano for an exta week too!) I felt very much like I was in the cast of Gossip Girl when I was shopping in there!

OOTD: Suitable for Grandparents.

Heya! So, technically an outfit of yesterday but I didn't get back till fairly late last night and I've spent today in a tracksuit (I was working!) so don't have an OOTD from today (Does that make sense...sorry for the ramble!) I know it's really short but it was a bit caught up on the belt in this picture but I didn't realise till after taking the photos! It's actually a couple of inches longer and a bit more suitable for visiting the grandparents! So here it is...

How to Create: Strawberry Nails

Heya!

Got a bit bored tidying my room today so decided to do a kind of guide to creating strawberry nails! Voila!

I've spent way to much time trying various nail art designs over the holidays! Thanks for all the lovely comments on my leopard print nails in the post below! I was asked if I used any nail art pens etc, I don't! All my tools are pretty much make-shift like using a opened up hair grip to do the dots with & for the black lines on the leopard design I used a cheap black liquid eyeliner (needs a top coat over it to hold!) I am hoping at some point to get some kind of kit  when I can afford it (maybe I'll try konad..who knows!) until then, I'll make do with whatever I can find!

Off to my grandparents for a BBQ now! Should be lovely!

A busy afternoon.

Heya!

Had a very busy afternoon today! My little sister and I were in charge on dinner so we cooked about 10 different tapas style dishes (although we ended up with rather massive portions). There was easily enough to feed 8 people so there are quite a few leftover (there are only 4 of us in my family!) We all felt so fat afterwards we decided to go for a bike ride (to the pub!) So here's what I wore...

That's all for now! I'm going to try and have an early night. Just looked through my diary and the last time I got to bed before 11.30pm was nearly a month ago! I need my sleep!

A Trip to H&M (and an OOTD!)

Heya!

On thursday morning I got up bright and early for a quick trip to H&M to try and find the beautiful leopard print wedges that Saskia of Not Just Medical featured on her blog (A lovely blog! Have a look!). However they didn't have them and according to the shop assistant have never had them in and probably never will. Great. I was about to leave when I spotted this lovely bag on a shelf. I'd also seen it on NJM here and as soon as I saw it, I understood why she'd also fallen in love.

Some of you may have read my trend focus on pouch bags (here!) and this was a perfect low budget buy. It's a lovely khaki green colour, which tan faux-leather at the top and bottom and a thick camel colours rope and adjustable strap. Despite looking fairly small, it's actually massive inside. I can easily fit a bottle of water/purse/camera/notebook/phone in it. Will be great from sightseeing in Nepal (as it does up really tightly) and also for festivals next year! Plus, it was a snip at £9.99!

How to Style: Breton Stripes

Breton stripes are a pretty integral part of my wardrobe and seem to come back every summer! I currently have a long sleeved H&M black/white top, a Navy New Look dress with white stripes and the most recent addition to my collection, a white and navy River Island tee which I picked up in the sale for £5. I always fall into the bog standard tee and denim shorts so I stuck Breton stripe into Chictopia and it threw up these gems! Some definate outfit inspiration here!

I had a spare 10 minutes this morning so decided to try out some different ways of styling my river island tee. I only had time to try out 3 different outfits though so will maybe have another experiment tomorrow! If you have any styling suggestions, please suggest and I'll try and give them a go tomorrow!

I went sailing today so wore the tee with the denim shorts and some lovely big sunnies! (although the whole look was rather ruined by my lifejacket.)

I also painted my nails in a nautical theme. However it failed spectacuarly. (especially my first attempt at a red ensign (a sailing flag) so I then tried a Union Jack which is also pretty terrible! Sorry about the dodgy painting too, I forgot to take another picture this morning having sorted it all out!

So any breton styling suggestions? Would me hugely appreciated!

Country Life.

Heya, Just a quick post of a few photos from a country walk and cycle a few weeks ago...

As much as I enjoy summery country adventures like these, I'm a city girl at heart and can't wait to move into a city when I go to university in September.

On another note, stocked up on a few haircare products today, I'm currently trying out the Aussi haircare volume boost range, I haven't seen a massive difference yet but it's a good shampoo so I decided to try their conditioner as well. Also bought another bottle of batiste dry shampoo. I literally depend on this stuff! It's a lifesaver! Seems I'm not the only fan too, whilst reading the Elle runway edit from the september issue, Luke Hershon (hairstylist at NY Fashion week) mentions in an interview that he can't get through NY fashion week without it!

OOTD: Let's Play

Playsuit £20 Oasis

So my Outfit of the day today. I say 'of the day' I actually mean between about 4 and 8. I spent the majority of the day in my ski gear but it's both highly unfashionable and unflattering. No one wants to see that. I wore this playsuit to the cinema with Sanchia this afternoon (to see Toy Story 3. Yes I know.) It was a lovely sale bargain. £20 down from £50 in Oasis! Picked it up when I was helping a friend buy a prom dress. Great help I am, spent most of the afternoon trying on random clothes myself!

I wore it with a plain black topshop cardigan and these shoes. I bought them in the Urban Outfitters Sale for $15 when I was in Boston, USA over easter. I absolutely love them but they're to small for one of my feet (I have odd sized feet!). I always seem to forget this though so I ended up spending most of the afternoon walking around with one shoe on and one shoe off because the pain was so bad! Here's a picture of them not on my feet.

See by Chloe launched on ASOS today and inspired me to do a quick brand focus post.

See by Chloe was launched in 2001 as a more casual and youthful selection of clothes compared to the Chloe mainline.

I'm a big fan of the classic cuts of the collection and lots of their S/S pieces featured some beautiful prints and ice cream colours.

It's a Charmed Life

I’m a massive jewellery fiend and have lots of lovely high street pieces (or ‘junk’ jewellery as my mum calls it!) but I’m also lucky enough to have a few special pieces and this is one of them! It was a Christmas present from my parents 2 years ago and the various charms have been given to me as presents for Christmases/birthdays since then from various friends/relatives!

• 18: My little sister bought me this for my 18th
• L Plate: For my 17th Birthday
• Cupcake: I’m a bit of a cupcake fiend (I had a giant cupcake for my 18th Birthday cake!)

• Girl: Her suitcase says Globe Trotter. A present from 2 of my best friends – I love travelling!
• Snowflake: I’m part of a very keen skiing family! So lots of snowy holidays!
• Handbag: My mum calls me the bag lady because I horde so many bags!

I'm currently lusting after the tennis racket and london taxi too!

Got this new Models Own 3 in 1 nail varnish today. Really like it! Definately makes my nail varnish shinier and more durable!

It's difficult to see in the picture but Nails Inc Queensgate is literally a bottle of glitter - It's much sparklier in reality then it looks in the picture!

Can't Live Without: Benefit Dandelion Blush

I thought I'd continue the 'Can't Live Without' trend by doing a post of my own!

One of the essentials in my make up bag is Dandelion by Benefit. It's a pale pink powder which comes in a beautiful box (which Includes a great mini blusher brush).

As you can see, I have 2. One of them has nearly run out though so I keep that in my car for make-up emergencies! Isn't the packaging so pretty?

Benefit say: 'Dandelion. Finely spun with delicate mauves and pinks, this exquisite brightening face powder leaves a petal like finish'

It's a very delicate pink colour which looks great on people with pale skin like mine. The brush is the perfect size and holds just the right amount of powder.

The result? A very light pink blush that lasts all day.

(edit: Sorry for the horribly posy picture, I'm literally the most unphotogenic person ever! and sorry for the overgrown fringe. It's normally straight across but my hairdresses couldn't fit me in till the 21st of August so It's going to keep getting longer and more annoying for a while!)

I've been using this powder for over 2 years now and I haven't found anything I've liked more! I tend to find cremes to thick on my skin and stains tend to be a bit too pink/red! I like that it looks like quite a natural blush, and the brush that comes with it makes it almost impossible to overload on it!

At £23.50 it's got quite a hefty price tag, however you do get an awful lot of it. It took me nearly 18 months of daily usage to run out of one box (That's like 0.053p a day!)

Which blushes would you recommend? What products can you 'not live without'?
